المستخلص: رواية ملك كاحل هي رواية للكاتب الأفريقي تيرنو موننمبو وقد وصفها النقاد بأنها ترجمة رومانسية وحصلت على جائزة رونودو سنة 2008. يتتبع الكاتب رحلة أوليفيه دى سندرفال المهندس الفرنسي الذي وقع في حب أفريقيا بسبب قراءاته عنها وخاصة الفوتا دجالون. أراد سندرفال أن يبسط سيطرته على منطقة الكاحل ولكنه واجه صعوبات جمة منها ما لا يستطيع التعامل معه ومنها السهل الممتنع. وكانت أفريقيا وفرنسا وسندرفال نفسه من أسباب تلك الصعوبات. حلم سندرفال أصبح غير قابل للتحقيق وأحبر على ترك أفريقيا كلها لأن القوي لم تكن متكافئة ولأن الحلم ليس له مكان أمام قوة أوروبا وفرنسا. محبطا، مات سندرفال وحيدا في فرنسا حاملا حلمه في قلبه وعقله.

Désigné par les critiques comme une biographie romancée, Le Roi de Kahel est un roman de Tierno Monénembo (Monénembo l’a qualifié tel) qui a obtenu le prix Renaudot en 2008. L’auteur relate le voyage d’Olivier de Sanderval, un ingénieur français, qui tombe amoureux d’après ses lectures de l’Afrique et surtout de Fouta-Djalon (Guinée actuelle). Il veut déployer son autorité sur le plateau de Kahel où il rencontre des obstacles énormes. Ils sont parfois durs et paraissent parfois souples ce qui ne constitue pas toujours la réalité. La France, L’Afrique et Sanderval lui-même représentent les causes de ces barricades. Le rêve du héros est irréalisable et il se trouve obligé à quitter l’Afrique parce que les forces sont inégales et les rêves n’ont pas de place face à la puissance de l’Europe. Déçu, Sanderval est mort en France seul en gardant son rêve dans la tête et dans le cœur.

"The King of Kahel" is a novel by the African writer Tierno Munenmbo. Critics have described it as a romantic translation, and it won the Ronaudo Prize in 2008. The writer traces the journey of Olivier de Cinderval, the French engineer who developed a love for Africa through his readings, particularly about the Futa Djallon region. Cinderval aspired to extend his influence over the Kahel area, but he encountered numerous challenges, some of which proved insurmountable, while others were more manageable. The difficulties stemmed from factors involving Africa, France, and Cinderval himself. Unfortunately, Cinderval's dream became unattainable, and he was compelled to leave all of Africa as the balance of powers was uneven, and his dream had no standing against the might of Europe and France.
