It is observed that reading and analyzing a text provide the means for a reader to relate a text to his own expertise of language and reality by constructing it through his intertextual experiences of social meaning and practices. It is related to the reader’s intertextuality when the forms of a text are connected to textual functions of other contexts. The study aims to investigate and tackle the intertextuality relations and types of different contexts of the selected poem written by T.S. Eliot in his famous poem ‘’The Waste Land’’, and how it can be an effective stylistic literary device in the interpretation and production of the real meaning. Readers will create and perceive intertextual links by merging their previous literary background knowledge and assumptions with the textual linguistic levels of the target text. However, the emphasis will be directed at an ideational level of stylistics which relates literary effects to linguistic forms in the exposition of poetic discourse. The analysis has shown that stylistics which is intertextual is concerned more with the reading process and intertextuality is used effectively and intensively in order to identify and recognize the reader’s motives and intentions. Eliot employs Goldsmith’ poem in his discussion and uses various references and allusions to create rich and multiple ways of tackling meaning and the intended theme and message. Also, the analysis reflects a real connection between the author and readers insights and competence to raise understanding and effects in reading and interpreting the poem.
