المستخلص: تقوم هذه الدراسة بمقاربة دور الوصف في تقديم الشخصية، فهو من أهم أدوات السرد التي يستند إليها الكاتب -منذ القدم -في تقديم عناصر الطبيعة والشخوص والأحداث، مع الأخذ في الحسبان ما تعرض له من عوامل التطور والتغيير. لذا تعددت وظائف الوصف نتيجة لتطور السرد؛ فأصبح مرتبطا بالأحاسيس والمشاعر الإنسانية، ومقترنا بأسلوب السرد الذي يعتمده، فيحدد بواسطته الفضائين الزماني والمكاني للحدث وطبائع الشخصيات وأبعادها، وهو ما نجده عند هيثم الجاسم؛ حيث أتخذ القاص من الوصف موقعا أساسيا يحدد ماهية الشخصيات ونمط وجودها في السرد، من هنا كانت أهمية هذه الدراسة تحت عنوان "الشخصية في قصص هيثم الجاسم"، وقد حاولت دراسة وصف الشخصيات عن طريق اتجاهين؛ الاتجاه الأول: وصف الأبعاد الخارجية للشخصيات، والاتجاه الآخر هو وصف الأبعاد الداخلية لها.

This study approaches the role of description in presenting the personality, as it is one of the most important narration tools on which the writer has relied- since ancient times- in presenting the elements of nature, characters and events, taking into account the factors of development and change that he was exposed to. Therefore, the functions of the description multiplied as a result of the development of the narrative; It became associated with human feelings and feelings, and associated with the narration style that it adopts, by which it determines the temporal and spatial spaces of the event and the nature and dimensions of the characters, which is what we find in Haitham Al-Jassem; Where the narrator took from the description a basic position that determines the nature of the characters and the pattern of their presence in the narration, hence the importance of this study under the title "The Personality in the Stories of Haitham Al-Jassem", and I tried to study the description of the characters through two directions; The first direction: a description of the external dimensions of the characters, and the other direction is the description of the internal dimensions of them.
