المستخلص: تفدم مراجعات الكتب ملخصا للأهداف التي يقصدها الكتاب في كتبهم أضافا إلى لبعض الجوانب المهمة. يعبر الناقدون عن وجهات نظرهم بما يتعلق بالكتاب المقترح ويحاولون تقييمه نظرا للتقدم الحالي في جميع حقول المعرفة. تتضمن مشكلة هذه الدراسة الأسئلة التالية: ما هي أنواع مراجعات الكتب (نقدية أو وصفية) مستخدمة في كتب الحقول الثلاثة؟ (الطب، الهندسة، والفيزياء) ما هي الحركات أو المناورات البلاغية التي توظفها المراجعات والى أي مدى يختلف النقاد في بداية ونهاية مقالاتهم النقدية؟ وما هي الخصائص اللغوية التي يستخدمها النقاد (المراجعون) عند طرحهم التقييم النهائي؟ تفترض الدراسة بأن مراجعات الكتب العلمية المختارة تأتي على نوعين: نقدي ووصفي. كما تتسم الحركات البلاغية بالثبـات ولكن وظائفها الثانوية غير ثابتة وتظهر بصيغ مختلفة وتختلف المقدمة والخاتمة ويختلف التقييم. هدف هذه الدراسة هو تحليل ثلاث مراجعات لكتب علمية وشرح الاستراتيجيات المختلفة المستخدمة خلال عملية النقد.

The book review provides a summary of the aims that the writers attend to reflect in their books in addition to some essential aspects in the books. Reviewers express their views concerning the proposed book and try to assess the book due to the present progress in the disciplines or fields that these books involved. The problem of this study involves the following questions; what kinds of book reviews (critical or descriptive) are used within three scientific (Medicine, Engineering, and physics)book reviews? What is the rhetorical moves are employed in the selected scientific book reviews? to what degree the reviewers varied in the opening and closing their reviews and the way they organized their reviews? and what are the linguistics features that reviewers used in introducing their final evaluation for texts under reviewing?. It is hypothesized that the three selected scientific book reviews followed both types of book review, critical and descriptive book reviews, moves in these scientific book reviews are fixed but their sub-functions are not, the sub-functions of the moves within the genre book review could be realized differently, the reviewers open and close their texts in book reviews differently, and the reviewers gives different final evaluation for their book reviews. The aim of this study is to analyze three different book reviews from the same discipline (scientific) but different fields(Medicine, Engineering, and physics), one from each field and to explain the different strategies that followed during reviewing. The results of the study have shown that the moves in the reviews are stable but they could be varied in the sequences of the SFs across fields and between reviewers. The techniques used differ from one reviewers into another. They use different linguistics devices for different purposes and specify some of them to be with specific moves such as conclusion or summary statements which came side to side with move 4 or sequential terms with move 2.
