المستخلص: كانت ولا تزال مهنة التعليم الركيزة الأساسية في تقدم الأمم والشعوب وفي تحقيق التنمية الشاملة في المجتمع، والفضل في ذلك يعود إلى الدور الكبير الذي يقوم به القائم على مهنة التعليم وهو المعلم، خاصة في ظل المتغيرات العالمية الحاصلة والتطورات التكنولوجية والمعرفية التي يشهدها العالم، فبعدما كان دوره مجرد قناة لنقل المعارف والمعلومات وتلقينها للطلاب بشكل اجتراري، توسعت مهامه وأدواره وممارساته تبعا لذلك، فأصبح موجها ومرشدا ومبتكرا، ومخططا ومنفذا للعملية التعليمية، ومطورا لها، ومرافقا لطلابه في عملية الكشف والبحث عن المعرفة باستخدام التقنيات التكنولوجية المتطورة، وعالما نفسيا واجتماعيا يراعي احتياجات طلابه وفروقاتهم الفردية. كل هذه الأدوار وغيرها تتطلب منا اليوم تكاتف الجهود والسهر على اعداده اعدادا صحيحا يؤهله للقيام بهذه المهنة العظيمة، حتى نرقى بمستوى جودة العملية التعليمية وضمان ممارسات صحية للفعل التربوي في مدارسنا ومؤسساتنا التعليمية، وحتى نتجنب اختلال هذا الدور لما له من اثار سلبية وخيمة على كل من الفرد والمجتمع وهذا ما تحرص الورقة على توضيحه.
