520 |b The present research work analyses the impact of cultural awareness on foreign language acquisition. In fact, an important research tradition in foreign language studies has investigated language learning as a form of socialization. From this perspective, the acquisition of linguistic features is a process of taking on the habits and forms of a target culture. In other words, to acquire a language is to acquire a culture. Accordingly, we hypothesize that cultural awareness; open- mindedness and absence of stereotypes represent some important enhancing factors in the foreign language learning process. Within this context, the research investigation has been undertaken with the collaboration of fist year Master students of English at Mohamed Kheider University of Biskra. The principal objective that we assigned to this work was to demonstrate the utility and significance of those factors in increasing the students’ proficiency in the foreign language. At the conclusion of the research work, we have obtained two major outcomes that are respectively the development of positive and tolerant attitudes on the part of the learners in relation to the target culture and, consequently; a better mastery of the foreign language.
