فيما يخص المنهج المتبع في الدراسة فيتمثل في الاستعانة بالمناهج التاريخية: النقدية، والتحليلية، والوصفية؛ عقب استقاء مادة الدراسة من المصادر التاريخية المختلفة؛ في سبيل إدراك الحقائق التاريخية المنشودة. بينما تتجلى مشكلة الدراسة في التعرف على طبيعة الدورين السياسي، والحربي" للأمير قتلغشاه" خلال" العصر الإيلخاني"، وتباين هذين الدورين، وأثرهما على الأوضاع السياسية، والحربية في"الدولة الإيلخانية". في حين تتلخص صعوبات الدراسة في ندرة المعلومات التاريخية الواردة في الكتابات الفارسية، والعربية، والأوروبية المتعلقة بالحياة الخاصة "للأمير قتلغشاه"، وأسرته. من الجدير بالذكر هنا إبراز أقسام الدراسة التي اشتملت على: مقدمة، وتمهيد، وقسمين رئيسين، وخاتمة، ثم قائمة بأسماء المصادر والمراجع؛ حيث تطرق التمهيد إلى "نظرة تاريخية موجزة حول العصر الإيلخاني"، و"التعريف بالأمير قتلغشاه"، أما القسم الأول فجعلته بعنوان "الإسهامات السياسية للأمير قتلغشاه في العصر الإيلخاني"، في حين عنون القسم الثاني من الدراسة "بالإسهامات الحربية للأمير قتلغشاه في العصر الإيلخاني"، ثم ذيلت الدراسة بخاتمة تضمنت النتائج التي تم التوصل إليها، علاوة على ثبت المصادر والمراجع.

It is worth noting here to highlight the sections of the study, which included: an introduction, a preface, two main sections, and a conclusion, then a list of sources and references; Where the preface dealt with a "brief historical view of the Il_ khanid era", and "introducing the Prince Qtlagshah", and the first section was titled "The Political Contributions of the Prince Qtlagshah in the Il_ khanid Era", while the second section of the study was entitled "The Military Contributions of the Prince Qtlagshah in the Il_ khanid Era." Then the study was appended with a conclusion that included the results that had been reached, in addition to the proven sources and references.
