يدرس هذا البحث الإشارات السيميائية اللغوية ودلالاتها في عتبات رواية حجي جابر "سمراويت"؛ للوقوف على مكامن الخطاب الأقلية والوصول إلى تفسيرات ورودها في هذا العمل السردي الذي نال من التلقي ما يلفت الانتباه على مستوى النقاد والمختصين ومتذوقي الأدب وحتى عامة القراء، كونه يعالج موضوعا وجوديا لم يتطرق إليه روائي قبل جابر في الوسط الثقافي السعودي، بل والخليجي، ألا وهو موضوع الأقلية الإرترية في السعودية، على أن جابرا أتبع هذا العمل بأعمال أخرى تسير في الاتجاه نفسه، إلا أن أسبقية هذه الرواية تثير الفضول حول تعبيراتها اللغوية وإشاراتها، وقد سعى البحث للوقوف على الثنائية الضدية بين المركز والهامش، والتنقيب في اللغة الروائية باتباع المنهج السيمائي الذي يعتمد المقولات النظرية السيميائية من جهة، وعلى المقولات النظرية الاجتماعية التي تصف الأقليات وطريقة تعايشها مع المجتمعات التي لا تنتمي إليها انتماء كاملا، من جهة أخرى.
The research studies the semi-linguistic signs and their connotations in the thresholds of Haji Jaber's novel "Samrawit" in order to find out the secrets of Minority Discourse and to reach the interpretations of this narrative work, which has received widely and draws attention of critics, connoisseurs of literature and even the general readers, as it deals with an existential issue that was not addressed by novelists in the Saudi cultural milieu before Jaber, and indeed in the Arab Gulf societies, which is the subject of the Eritrean Minority in Saudi Arabia, although Jaber followed this work with other works that go in the same direction, but the primacy of this novel raises curiosity about its linguistic expressions and signs. So, the research attempted to find out the opposite dualism between the center and the margin, and to explore the narrative language by the descriptive analytical method that based on semiotic theoretical statements on one hand, and on another hand, it based on the social theoretical statements that describe minorities and the way they coexist with societies that do not fully belong to.
