This study aims at demonstrating the relationship between emotional intelligence and emotional divorce among a sample of married people, revealing discrepancy in the correlation between the dimensions of each of the emotional divorce and the emotional intelligence, and revealing the differences in emotional intelligence, its basic components, and sub-dimensions among married study sample individuals who suffer from emotional divorce, in the light of some social vital variables: (Gender - age - duration of marriage- education level). The study adopted the comparative correlational descriptive approach. The population of the study was represented in resident married men and women in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, whereas the sample of the preliminary study comprised (500) married couples from Jeddah residents. The most important findings of the study were as follows: The existence of a negative statistically significant correlation at (0.01) level of significance between the total score of the Emotional Intelligence Inventory, and that of the Emotional Divorce Scale among the study sample, and the existence of statistically significant differences (4.404) at (0.01) level of significance between the mean scores of the Emotional Intelligence Inventory in each of the married emotionally divorced and the married unemotionally divorced samples, in favor of the unemotionally divorced, in addition to the existence of statistically significant differences according to the gender variable, in favor of males at (0.05) level of significance, and the absence of significant differences in the mean scores of emotional intelligence among the married sample who did not suffer from emotional divorce according to the age, marriage duration, education level, or age variables, in addition to the existence of statistically significant differences according to the age variable, at (0.05) level of significance, and the absence of significant differences in the mean scores of emotional intelligence among the married sample who did suffer from emotional divorce according to the gender, marriage duration, education level.
