المستخلص: During the first half of the twentieth century, two spas were built in Algeria: Hammams Bouhanifia in Mascara and Melouane in Blida. These two achievements stand out from the rest of the spas built at the same time in Algeria by the extent of the equipment made, by the functions and comfort offered and especially by the exceptional budget allocated to each of two resorts Understanding the specificity of these two achievements is the essence of current research work. The choice of the host site and the implementation process must be elucidated. The architectural aesthetic developed is another equally important aspect. A whole historical-comparative analysis that is necessary and that requires a series of steps in the construction of this research work. Reading all the literature collected around the case study supports a historical and critical perception of the resulting architectural designs; built or simply designed from both stations. These two stations present an important aspect of the modern history of architecture in Algeria. They display fairly contextualized aesthetics that encompass two styles in their end of life, namely neo-Moorish and art deco. Other details introduce modernism.

On assiste, durant la première moitié du XXe siècle, à la construction de deux stations thermales en Algérie. Il s’agit des Hammams Bouhanifia à Mascara et Melouane à Blida. Ces deux réalisations se démarquent du reste des stations thermales construites à la même période en Algérie par l’ampleur des équipements réalisés, par les fonctions et le confort proposé et surtout par le budget exceptionnel alloué à chacune de deux stations. La compréhension de la spécificité de ces deux réalisations est l’essentiel de l’actuel travail de recherche. Le choix du site d’accueil et le processus de réalisation sont à élucider. L’esthétique architecturale développée est un autre volet aussi important. Toute une analyse historico-comparative qui s’impose et qui nécessite une suite d’étapes dans la construction de ce travail de recherche. La lecture de toute la littérature collectée autour du cas d’étude appuie une perception historique et critique des conceptions architecturales résultantes ; construites ou simplement dessinées des deux stations. Ces deux stations présentent un aspect important de l’histoire moderne de l’architecture en Algérie. Elles affichent des esthétiques assez contextualisées qui englobe deux styles dans leurs fins de vie, à savoir le néo mauresque et l’art déco. D’autres détails annoncent le modernisme.
