Marriage is known as one of the beautiful commandments in Shariah law and on the other hand Walimatul Urus is a wedding reception where guests would feast to celebrate the matrimonial unity of the bride and groom after a nikah solemnization is done. The intention of a Walimatul Urus is to announce publicly about the marriage of a couple promptly in this era. Hence, this research will discuss matters related to Shariah law and ethics on announcing a marriage through social media without conducting a Walimatul Urus for couples or groups who can’t afford it as holding a wedding reception will consume high expenses on financial side. Observing the economic state of a couple or their family’s financial ability to hold a wedding reception, revealing the marriage on social media works as a wise action. And with that, it complements the main purpose of this research. This study implements literature review method by analysing normative-comparative data. Besides that, qualitative data also will be evaluated as a result of this research. Marriage announcement are important to avoid any negative thoughts such as accusing of adultery towards couples. Using social media as a medium to deliver an announcement regarding a marriage has given positive effects. Thus, results from this study has found that spreading the news of a marriage on social media alone is adequate from the perspective of Shariah view without holding a Walimatul Urus and at the same time understand the situation of a couple in facing the wedding reception cost.
