المستخلص: تهدف الدراسة إلى تعريف مفهوم "مدير المدرسة كباحث"، ومستوى ممارسة مدراء المدارس للبحث العلمي من وجهة نظرهم، ومدى إسهام مدير المدرسة بنشر ثقافة البحث العلمي بمجتمع المدرسة. استُخدم المنهج الوصفي عبر تطبيق الاستبانة كأداة لجمع البيانات حيث تكون مجتمع الدراسة من جميع مدراء مدارس منطقة المدينة المنورة وعددهم (١٢١٣) مدير مدرسة، وقد تكونت العينة من (٣١٤) مديراً في المدينة المنورة. وخلُصت الدراسة لنتائج مهمة وهي كالتالي: إن ممارسة مدير المدرسة للبحث العلمي كانت مرتفعة بمتوسط حسابي (٤,٠٢)، بينما كان إسهامه في نشر ثقافة البحث العلمي في مجتمع المدرسة إسهاما مرتفعا بمتوسط حسابي (٣,٨٤). ويشير ذلك إلى وعي المدير بأهمية البحث العلمي ودوره الفاعل في تطوير مهنته وتقوية بصيرته، بالإضافة لرفع مستوى مخرجات المدرسة لوجود علاقة قوية بين السياسة والبحث والممارسة. أما فيما يتعلق بالتحديات في تطبيق البحث العلمي لدى مدراء المدارس فقد كانت إحدى نتائج الدراسة وحصلت على درجة متوسطة ومتوسط حسابي (٣,١٥)، وربما يفسر ذلك إلى تسهيل تطبيق البحوث العلمية الميدانية في الميدان التربوي وتذليل الصعوبات. كما كشفت الدراسة عن عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في استجابة أفراد عينة البحث حول مستوى ممارسة المدراء لدورهم كباحثين تعزى لمتغيري (الجنس والمؤهل العلمي) وهذا يعني أن ممارسة المدراء لدورهم كباحثين تظهر للجميع، بينما توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية حول ممارسة المدراء لدورهم كباحثين تعزى لمتغيري (سنوات الخبرة، الدورات التدريبية)، وقد قدم الباحثون نموذجا مقترحا لتطوير أداء عمل مدير المدرسة من خلال تطبيق البحث العلمي.

The aim of the research is to define the concept of "school principal as a researcher", the level of school principals' practice of scientific research from their perspective, and the extent of the school principal's contribution to spreading the culture of scientific research in the school community. The descriptive methodology was used by applying the questionnaire as a main tool for data collection, the study population concluded all school principals in Madinah region-Saudi Arabia, their number was (1213) school principals, the sample was (314) school principals in Madinah. The findings of this study were as follows: the school principal's practice of scientific research was high with Mean (4.02), while his contribution to spreading the culture of scientific research in the school community was high, with a Mean of (3.84). This indicates the principal's awareness of the significance of scientific research and his active role in developing his profession and strengthening his insight, in addition to raising the level of school outputs as there is a strong relationship between policy, research and practice. As for the challenges in the application of scientific research among school principals, it obtained a medium score with an arithmetic average of (3.15), and this may be explained by facilitating the application of field scientific research in the educational field and overcoming difficulties. The research also revealed that there are no statistically significant differences in the response of the research sample members about the level of principals’ practice of their role as researchers due to the variables (gender and educational qualification), what means that principals’ practice of their role as researchers is apparent to all, while there are statistically significant differences about principals’ practice of their role as researchers due to the two variables, (years of experience, training courses), The researchers presented a proposed model for developing the school principal's work performance through the application of scientific research.
