Abstract: تتناول هذه الدراسة موضوع الجدل باعتباره ظاهرة لغوية تستخدم على نطاق واسع ويشارك فيها شخصان أو أكثر. وبما أن الجدل يتكون من تراكيب لغوية معقدة وخطوات غير ودودة وأفعال تهدد وجه المتلقي (صورته الاجتماعية)، فيعد من الضروري جدا القيام بدراسة للتحقق من هذه الأفعال والتراكيب والخطوات والأدوار التي يقوم بها كل من يشارك في هذا الحدث التواصلي. حيث تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى توضيح كيف يبدأ الحوار وكيف يتطور وكيف ينتهي. بالإضافة إلى ذلك توضيح كيف يستخدم المشاركون بالجدل استراتيجيات براون وليفنسن (١٩٨٧) ومبادئ الكلام التي اقترحها غرايس (١٩٧٥) بغية الحدال بشكل فعال بالإضافة إلى تخفيف التهديد لوجه المجادل الآخر. توصلت هذه الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج أبرزها: يبدأ الجدل بالادعاء الذي يشكل تهديدا لوجه المتلقي أو تشويها لمكانته الاجتماعية مثل السؤال أو الإساءة أو الاتهام أو الاحتقار أو التهديد أو الاختلاف بالرأي، ويفضل المشاركون في الجدل استخدام الاستراتيجيات المباشرة وقواعد غرايس على الاستراتيجيات المهذبة الأخرى، بمعنى إنهم يفضلون الجدال بصورة فعالة على الجدال بصورة مهذبة.

This study deals with the topic of controversy as a linguistic phenomenon that is used on a large scale and in which two or more people participate. Since the argument consists of complex linguistic structures, unfriendly steps, and actions that threaten the face of the recipient (his social image), it is very necessary to carry out a study to verify these actions, structures, steps, and roles played by everyone who participates in this communicative event. Where this study aims to clarify how dialogue begins, how it develops and how it ends. In addition, it demonstrates how the participants in the argument use the strategies of Brown and Levinson (1987) and the principles of speech proposed by Grace (1975) in order to argue effectively as well as reduce the threat to the face of the other debater. This study reached several conclusions, the most important of which are: the argument begins with an allegation that poses a threat to the face of the recipient or distorts his social status, such as a question, abuse, accusation, contempt, threat, or difference of opinion, and the participants in the argument prefer to use direct strategies and the rules of grace over other polite strategies, meaning that They prefer to argue effectively over to argue politely.
