|a إن للألوية والرايات التي تحرص جميع الدول على اتخاذها ورفعها، أهمية كبير؛ لأنها من شارات الملك والسلطان عند مختلف الأمم كانت ولازالت حتى اليوم؛ ولأن الملك والسلطان يقتضيان الأبهة ولتميز فقد حرصوا على اتخاذ الألوية والرايات في مجالات عديدة منها، المناسبات الرسمية، للدولة كولاية العهد إذ كانت ترفع الألوية والرايات باسم ولي العهد أو الحاكم الجديد إيذانا بإعلام الناس بذلك، كذلك استعراض الجيش الذي يمثل الثقافة والقدرة العسكرية للدولة إذ كانت تقام الاستعراضات في ساحات خارج المدن وكانت الألوية والرايات جزء رئيس من ذلك، فضلا عن رفعها في استقبال الوفود الرسمية للدوية كونها الشعار الرسمي للدولة ومن النظم المتبعة التي تظهر فخامة الدولة ودرجة رقيها وتنظيمها.
