تهدف هذه الدراسة بشكل أساسي، إلى إلقاء الضوء على تقنية رمز الاستجابة السريعة QR Code، وهي من تقنيات المعلومات الحديثة، التي أُدخلت على مجال المكتبات والمعلومات، وتستعرض هذه الدراسة رمز الاستجابة السريعة في مؤسسات المعلومات، من حيث وقت وكيفية تطبيقه في المؤسسات، وفي أي المجالات استخدم رمز الاستجابة السريعة QR Code، وما القيم المستفادة، والتحديات التي تواجه المؤسسات المعلوماتية، عند استخدام تقنية رمز الاستجابة السريعة؟ وقد سارت الدراسة على المنهج المسحي، واستخدم الاستبيان؛ لجمع البيانات من العاملين بوحدات تقنية المعلومات، ومديري ومشرفي المؤسسات المركزية؛ حيث اتضح من الدراسة، أن مؤسسات المعلومات مازالت في بداياتها الأولى لتطبيق تقنية QR Code، وهذا مؤشر جيد على بدء المؤسسات بتطوير خدماتها، وإدخال تقنيات المعلومات الحديثة، وبرز استخدام رمز الاستجابة السريعة، في مجال التسويق، والخدمات المرجعية، وخدمات المعلومات. ومن أبرز القيم المستفادة من استخدام QR Code، تفعيل وتطوير الخدمات الإلكترونية، وحماية المجموعات الورقية من التلف. ومن أهم التحديات التي تواجه رمز الاستجابة السريعة، أنه لابد من تدريب العاملين، على توليد رمز الاستجابة السريعة، وتعريض وتثقيف المستفيدين بكيفية استخدامه، والاستفادة منه، وأيضا يحتاج رمز الاستجابة لهاتف ذكي، أو جهاز محمول لمسح الرموز.
