|a نسعى في هذا البحث إلى بيان مفهوم المركزية الغربية في نشأته التاريخية وخلفياته الإيديولوجية والثقافية والفلسفية. وفي هذا السياق سنضيء على النزوع العنصري المتجذرة في نفس الأمم الغربية وتفكير فلاسفتها ومفكريها حيال الأمم والشعوب الأخرى، مشيرين إلى أن هذا النزوع لم يظهر فقط في أزمنة الحداثة وتشكل الدول القومية الاستعمارية في أوروبا وبروز الحركة الاستيعابية، وإنما يعود إلى زمن الإغريق الذين اعتبروا العرق الأوروبي الأبيض سيد العالم، وأنه العرق الأنقى الذي بنى حضارة العقل. أما الشعوب الأخرى، فلا تعدو كونها مجرد كيانات بربرية لا تستحق الحياة إلا باستعمارها وإلحاقها بحضارة العقل.
|b This essay aims to clarify the historical origin and ideological, cultural and philosophical backgrounds of the concept of Western-centrism. It sheds light on the disposition to racism which is rooted in the conduct of Western nations and in the thought of Western philosophers and intellectuals toward other communities and populations. This disposition did not only appear in the eras of modernism and the foundation of ethnic and imperialist countries in Europe, but may actually be traced back to the time of the Greeks who considered the white race to be the superior one in the entire world, the purest, and the race responsible for building rational civilization. According to this mode of thought, other nations are merely barbaric communities that only deserve a life of colonialism and subservience to the rational civilization.
