The founding of the United Nations (UN) and its organs was certainly the most important development in the international framework to ensure peace and stability in the world. However, what we have observed since its founding is the spread of regional conflicts and war crimes with the indirect and, in some cases, direct involvement of states serving as permanent members of the Security Council (UNSC). The latter has the duty to prevent conflict and the power to act against states violating the charter, in particular in the event of a serious attack on the sovereignty of a state or a well-founded fear of a threat to citizens and their freedoms. |
