Studying the works of the Irish dramatist John Millington Synge necessitates an examination of his biography. The latter is definitely intertwined with his literary creation as his personal experiences have a palpable impact on his work. Synge lived a short but intense life that combined the French philosophical and literary heritages from years spent in Paris with a personal commitment to the preservation and promotion of Irish and Celtic peculiarities. He tackled topics and adopted themes that were universal without failing to highlight the Irishness of his plots, characters, and settings by drawing from the facets of Ireland that he witnessed. |
