|a تشهد منطقة القطب الشمالي حاليا تنافسا دوليا كبيرا بين القوى الكبرى سعيا للتفرد بهذا الفضاء الجيواستراتيجي، هذا في ظل التغيرات المناخية والتي جعلت من الوصول إليه والاستفادة من ثرواته أمرا سهلا، إلى جانب الهروب من نقاط التوتر التقليدية كالشرق الأوسط وآسيا الوسطى.
|b The Arctic region has gained great geostrategic importance in recent years in light of climate changes such as global warming, which have changed the difficult climatic features of the region. The frozen northern ocean has lost half of its ice-covered area, which prompted the major powers to try to take advantage of its underground and oil wealth, in addition to sea lanes and new international trade routes, to escape from international crises in several regions around the world. The research problem of this study revolves around the importance of the Arctic region as a new space for pragmatic economic interests, and how the major powers: U.S.A., Russia, and China, interact in light of the new developments. The study’s main question is represented in the following: What is Russia’s strategy in the Arctic, and how do the major powers interact with such geopolitical developments?
