مع مطلع القرن العشرين ظهرت العديد من المدارس الموسيقية والمؤلفات التعليمية لتعليم عزف البيانو وكل طريقة كان لها سماتها الخاصة ومنهجيتها في التجريس. ومع دراسة تلك المؤلفات التعليمية من حيث الأسلوب والمنهجية الخاصة بها نجد المتشابهة منها في البداية ثم الاختلاف بعد ذلك في التناول وتدرج الأداء كما أن كل منها مكمل للآخر، لذا فقد كانت هذه العوامل دافعا للباحثة لدراسة بعض تلك المؤلفات التعليمية ومنها كتاب التقنيات الأساسية لعزف البيانو Technic Bastian Piano Basics عند جيمس باستيان حيث تميزت طريقته التعليمية بالسهولة والاستمتاع والتدرج في التعلم لما تحتوي مقطوعاته من عنصر التشويق والإرشادات التعليمية. ويهدف البحث إلى: - التعرف على أهم مؤلفي الكتب التعليمية في القرن العشرين. - دراسة أسلوب أداء التقنيات الأساسية لعزف البيانو عند جيمس باستيان والاستفادة منها. وينقسم البحث إلى: الإطار النظري ويشمل: - المؤلفات التعليمية وأهم مؤلفيها. - جيمس باستيان حياته وأهم أعماله. ثانيا الإطار التطبيقي ويشمل: - دراسة وتحليل كتاب التقنيات الأساسية لعزف البيانو عند باستيان. - واختتم البحث بالنتائج والتوصيات.
