المستخلص: تعد ظاهرة المثنيات من ظواهر اللغة العربية على المستوى الصرفي، ومن علاماتها المعروفة على مستوى الثروة اللفظية. وقد سعى البحث إلى دراسة هذه الظاهرة، وبيان أثرها في إثراء المعجم العربي، ويقصد بألفاظ المثنيات تلك الألفاظ التي تدل على معنيين معا؛ مثل: "الحرمان"، للدلالة على مكة والمدينة. وقد بين البحث طبيعة البنية الاشتقاقية لألفاظ المثنيات في المعجم العربي؛ حيث تبين تنوع هذه البنية وثراؤها، وميلها أكثر إلى المجيء وفق وزن "أفعل" سواء أكان للتفضيل أم لغيره؛ وسبب ذلك أن المثنيات تأتي من باب التغليب غالبا، والتغليب في ذاته تفضيل ومقارنة بين شيئين فأكثر، كما أوضح البحث وقوع ظواهر دلالية في ألفاظ المثنيات كالترادف، والتضاد، والمشترك اللفظي، والتغير الدلالي. وكشف البحث أيضا عن مستويات الاستعمال اللغوي لألفاظ المثنيات في القرآن الكريم، والحديث النبوي، وأقوال السيدة عائشة رضي الله عنها- والصحابة، والأمثال، والشعر، والمصاحبات اللفظية والتعبيرات السياقية؛ وأن ذلك يرجع إلى أهمية المثنيات في التعبير عن المعنى المقصود بإيجاز، وأن صناع المعاجم العربية قد حرصوا على إبراز توظيف مستويات الاستعمال السابقة للمثنيات في مادة معاجمهم. وقد اعتمد البحث المنهج الوصفي القائم على الوصف والاستقراء والتحليل والاستنباط، وقام في سبيل تحقيق ذلك باستقراء المثنيات من المعاجم العربية المتنوعة، وقدم مسوغات جديدة لإطلاق المثنيات غير المتعارف عليها... إلخ. وقد خلص البحث إلى عدد من النتائج والتوصيات منها: أن إطلاق المثنيات في اللغة لا يخضع لمعيار محدد، وإنما يحكم هذه الظاهرة السليقة اللغوية للمتكلم وأن اللسان العربي لم يعتمد بنية صرفية بعينها في بناء ظاهرة المثنيات، وأن توظيف المثنيات قائم على التواصل بين المتكلمين في إطار مبادئ التداولية التي ترتكز على الوظيفة التواصلية للخطاب. وأوصى البحث الباحثين في مجال الدراسات الأدبية والبلاغية بعمل دراسات حول المثنيات؛ بهدف الكشف عن الجوانب البلاغية والأدبية بها، كما أوصى مجمع اللغة العربية بالقاهرة بعمل معجم حصري الألفاظ المثنيات، مع بيان التغير الدلالي الحادث لبعضها.

The phenomenon of "Al-Muthanna" (the dual) is considered one of the linguistic phenomena in the Arabic language on the morphological level, and one of its known characteristics on the level of verbal wealth. The research has sought to study this phenomenon and demonstrate its impact on enriching the Arabic lexicon. The term "Al-Muthanna" refers to words that indicate two meanings together, such as Al-Haramain," which refers to Mecca and Medina. The research has clarified the nature of the derivational structure of dual words in the Arabic lexicon, revealing their diversity, richness, and tendency to follow the pattern "af'ala" whether it is for preference or otherwise. This is because dual words often come from predominance, and the predominance itself involves preference and comparison between two or more things. The research also explained the occurrence of semantic phenomena in dual words, such as synonymy, antonymy, lexical commonality, and semantic change. The research also revealed the linguistic usage levels of dual forms in the Holy Quran, Prophetic traditions, the sayings of Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and the Companions, proverbs, poetry, verbal expressions, and contextual expressions. This can be attributed to the importance of dual forms in succinctly expressing the intended meaning. The creators of Arabic dictionaries have made sure to highlight the previous usage levels of dual forms in their dictionaries. The research adopted a descriptive approach based on description, induction, analysis, and deduction. To achieve this, it inferred the dual forms from various Arabic dictionaries and presented new justifications for introducing unfamiliar dual forms, etc. The research has yielded several results and recommendations, including the following: The use of dual forms in language is not governed by a specific standard but rather by the linguistic intuition of the speaker. The Arabic language does not have a specific morphological structure for constructing dual forms, and the employment of dual forms relies on communication between speakers within the framework of communicative principles that are based on the communicative function of discourse. The research recommends that scholars in the fields of literary and rhetorical studies conduct research on dual forms in order to explore their rhetorical and literary aspects. Additionally, the Arabic Language Academy in Cairo was recommended to compile an exclusive dictionary of dual forms, with an indication of the semantic change of some of them.
