المستخلص: هذا البحث يتناول ظاهرة لغوية قلما ينتبه إليها، وهي (ما لا واحد له من لفظه في العربية)، وقد جعلته محددا بباب المثنى؛ لكثرة المادة العلمية من جهة، ولتجنب التطويل الذي لا يسمح به المقام من جهة أخرى.
وحاولت دراسة الموضوع دراسة لغوية وصفية تحليلية شاملة لثلاثة مستويات: النحوي، والصرفي، والدلالي، ولكن لم يفصل بين هذه المستويات اللغوية الثلاثة في مباحث مستقلة؛ بسبب طبيعة البحث في مفرداته المختلفة.
وقد قسمت البحث إلى مطالب ستة: المطلب الأول: حد المثنى. والمطلب الثاني: ألفاظ مثناة ومفرداها مختلفان لفظا ومعنى. والمطلب الثالث: ألفاظ مثناة ومفرداها متفقان لفظا مختلفان معنى. والمطلب الرابع: ألفاظ مثناة ولا مفرد لها من لفظها. والمطلب الخامس: مصادر مثناة ولم يستعمل لها مصدر مفرد. والمطلب السادس: ألفاظ سماعية ملحقة بالمثنى ولم يستعمل لها مفرد.
وختم البحث بخلاصة فيها أهم النتائج التي توصل إليها الباحث، يليها توصية، وفي الأخير قائمة بالمصادر والمراجع.


This research deals with a linguistic phenomenon at which attention is rarely paid to, which is (the words which have no singular form in Arabic), and has made it specific to the Chapter of dual, because of the abundance of scientific material on the one hand, and to avoid prolongation that the place does not allow on the other hand.
I attempted to study the subject with a comprehensive descriptive and analytical study of three levels: grammatical, syntactic, and semantic, but these three linguistic levels were not separated in separate chapters because of the nature of the research in its various vocabulary.
I divided the research into six chapters: the first Chapter: the definition of the dual. The second Chapter: The Dual and singular that are different in terms of word and meaning. The Third Chapter: The Dual and singular that are similar in word and different in meaning. Fourth Chapter: dual words which have no singular form from the same word. Fifth Chapter: sources of dual for which no singular source was used. And the sixth Chapter: heard words attached to dual, for which a singular is not used.
The research concluded with a summary of the most important findings of the researcher, followed by a recommendation, and finally, a list of sources and references.
