George Sand’s travelogue published in 1841 under the title Un hiver à Majorque is now a classic of travel literature. The reader’s interest is often focused on the use of the report as a source of biographical information- not so much about the trip to Majorca as about the author’s love affair with Chopin. The present article focuses on Un hiver à Majorque as a structure of literary works, which is to be analysed with regard to the author’s treatment of the literary conventions of the French travelogue in the nineteenth century. We begin by summarising the status and orientation of the research on women’s travels. As a basis for the analysis of the text, the cultural conditions of travel and women’s writing in the 19th century and the parameters of women’s travel writing that depend on them are sketched out. In a second step, the romantic image of Spain, which shaped the imagination of French travellers and readers, is sketched out during George Sand’s departure for Majorca. In order to allow a first classification of the author and the text in the context of the tradition of literary travelogues in the nineteenth century, we need to explain the relationship between the journey and the writing of the author George Sand, as well as the more precise circumstances of the editing and publication of the travelogue and we will present the reception of the narrative by contemporary critics. Focusing on textual analysis, we will begin with the stylisation of the travel writer. The textual conception of external cultural perception is then examined, from the foreign inner world to the foreign outer world, in which the representation of nature and landscape will be compared to the representation of culture and people. The topic of civilisation and progress in George Sand’s travelogue will finally complete the text analysis. In the context of the text analysis, the practice of writing about women’s travel is to be determined more precisely by George Sand. On the one hand, the tension between the male narrator and the female subjectivity and, on the other hand, the overall textual arrangement will be examined.

Le récit de voyage publié par George Sand en 1841 sous le titre Un hiver à Majorque est désormais un classique de la littérature de voyage. L’intérêt du lecteur est souvent concentré sur l’utilisation du rapport comme source d’information biographique- non pas tant sur le voyage à Majorque que sur l’histoire d’amour de l’auteur avec Chopin. Le présent article se concentre sur Un hiver à Majorque en tant que structure d’oeuvres littéraires, qui doit être analysé au regard du traitement par l’auteur des conventions littéraires du récit de voyage français au XIXème siècle. Nous commençons par résumer le statut et l’orientation de la recherche sur les voyages des femmes sont résumés. Comme base de l’analyse du texte, sont esquissés les conditions culturelles du voyage et de l’écriture féminine au XIXème siècle et les paramètres de l’écriture du voyage au féminin qui en dépendent. Dans un second temps, l’image romantique de l’Espagne, qui a façonné l’imagination des voyageurs français et des lecteurs, est esquissée lors du départ de George Sand pour Majorque. Afin de permettre une première classification de l’auteur et du texte dans le contexte de la tradition des récits de voyage littéraires au XIXème siècle, nous devons expliquer la relation entre le voyage et l’écriture de l’auteur George Sand, ainsi que les circonstances plus précises de l’édition et de la publication du récit voyage et nous présenterons la réception du récit par la critique contemporaine. Nous concentrant sur l’analyse de texte, nous commencerons par la stylisation du journaliste de voyage. La conception textuelle de la perception culturelle externe est ensuite examinée, à partir du monde intérieur étranger vers le monde extérieur étranger, dans lequel la représentation de la nature et du paysage sera comparée à la représentation de la culture et des personnes. Le sujet de la civilisation et des progrès dans le récit de voyage de George Sand complétera enfin l’analyse de texte. Dans le contexte de l’analyse de texte, la pratique de l’écriture du voyage au féminin doit être déterminée plus précisément par George Sand. D’une part, la tension entre le narrateur masculin et la subjectivité féminine et, d’autre part, sera examinée la disposition textuelle globale.
