تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تعرف مدى مشاركة المرأة الأردنية في الانتخابات النيابية والبلدية، من خلال أخذ عينة ميدانية لطالبات ومعلمات من إقليم البتراء من محافظة معان بالأردن، ومحاولة معرفة الجهات المسئولة عن توعية المجتمع بأهمية وجود المرأة في مجلس النواب، ومعرفة المعيار المعتمد أكثر من غيره عند الناخبات في اختيار المرأة المرشحة، ومعرفة مدى أثر المتغيرات الآتية في المشاركة السياسية للمرأة الأردنية: العمر والدخل والمهنة والمستوى التعليمي. وقد طور الباحثان استبانة علمية للإجابة عن أسئلة الدراسة. وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج؛ أبرزها: لا يوجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في آراء أفراد العينة نحو درجة المشاركة السياسية للمرأة الأردنية تعزى إلى اختلاف العمر في: مجال المشاركة في الانتخابات النيابية والبلدية، ومجال الجهات المسئولة أكثر من غيرها عن توعية المجتمع بأهمية وجود المرأة في مجلس النواب، إضافة إلى المجال المتعلق بالمعيار المعتمد أكثر من غيره عند الناخبين في اختيار المرأة المرشحة. كما أوضحت الدراسة أن مشاركة المرأة في الانتخابات البلدية والنيابية الأخيرة (2007م) جاءت أقل مما كانت عليه في الانتخابات السابقة؛ لذلك فإن اتجاهاتهن نحو مشاركتهن في الانتخابات السابقة جاءت سلبية. \
This study aimed to recognize the range of the participation of Jordanian women in Parliamentary and municipality elections through selecting a sample of female students and governesses of Petra Province in Ma'an - Jordan. It, also tried to recognize the departments responsible for enlightening the society with the importance of women existence in the Parliament, and to find the commonly used norms amongst voters in choosing the women candidate and also to find out the causes of failure of the Jordanian women in elections. Moreover, the study aims to shed light on the range of effect of the following variables: age, income, job and the educational level in the political participation 0 the Jordanian women. The tow researchers developed a scientific questionnaire to answer the questions of the study. The study reached the following results: There is no significant difference in the opinions provided by the sample members towards the degree of the political participations of the Jordanian women due to the differences in participations in both Parliament and municipality and those parties responsible - more than others - for shedding light on the importance of women existence in Parliament House. In addition to the related criteria commonly used by voters in selecting a female candidate women, the study also showed that the participation of women in the last Parliament and Municipality election (2007) was less effective than the one before. This reflects a weakness in their attitudes towards participation. \
