المستخلص: The present paper brings into scrutiny the task of teaching literary translation to master students of English literature. It attempts, first, to demonstrate the promising objectives of the task. Then, to expose some of the potential multi-dimensional challenges to be encountered by the teacher. The study is descriptive and qualitative; it leans on examples from personal experience in teaching literary translation module at the department of English language at Boumerdes University. The study concludes that for the task to be fruitful, various conditions are to be met, the most important of them, is to include translation in the first year Licence curriculum with more load hours, and to teach literary translation through workshops with limited number of students.
