المستخلص: تبحث هذه الدراسة في استراتيجيات التأدب التي يستخدمها طلبة البكالوريوس مع أساتذتهم باستخدام رسائل WhatsApp. استخدام التكنولوجيا وتطبيقاتها ووسائل التواصل الاجتماعي سهلت عملية التواصل بين المجتمعات بشكل عام والطلبة مع أساتذتهم بشكل خاص. علاوة على ذلك، إن استخدام التكنولوجيا في التواصل يظهر التباين في استخدام استراتيجيات التأدب بين الطلبة وأساتذتهم عبر التواصل باستخدام تطبيق WhatsApp. تم استخدام المنهجية النوعية لتحليل رسائل WhatsApp التي يرسلها الطلبة إلى أساتذتهم وذلك من تاريخ 30/ 7/ 2022- 30/ 8/ 2022. البيانات التي تم جمعها جمعت من أربع مجموعات WhatsApp لمساقات محددة يدرسونها في الجامعة. استخدم الباحث نظرية التأدب (1987) Brown and Levinson's لتحليل استراتيجيات التأدب التي يستخدمها الطلبة. للتحقيق من مستوى المباشرة في الكلام تم استخدام (CCSARP) Blum-Kulka, S. & Olshtain, E. (1984). لتصنيف درجات المباشرة في رسائل الطلبة عبر WhatsApp. توصل البحث إلى أن الطلبة استخدموا أنواعا مختلفة من استراتيجيات التأدب في تواصلهم مع أساتذتهم باستخدام WhatsApp. تم تحديد مستوى المباشرة في رسائلهم بشكل واضح حيث وجد أن الطلبة الجدد في الجامعة يكونون أكثر مباشرة في رسائلهم على عكس الطلبة الذين يدرسون في السنة الثانية، الثالثة أو الرابعة. تساعد هذه الدراسة الأساتذة على تجنب سوء فهم رسائل الطلبة أثناء قيامهم بإرسال الرسائل النصية لهم عبر WhatsApp. علاوة على ذلك، تساعد هذه الدراسة الطلبة على معرفة أفضل استراتيجيات التأدب التي يجب عليهم استخدامها عند تواصلهم بأساتذتهم.

This study investigates the politeness strategies that are used by undergraduate students with their professor using WhatsApp messages. Using technology and social media applications facilitates communication among societies in general and students with their professors in particular. Moreover, it shows the disparity of using politeness strategies among the students while they were contacting their professors by WhatsApp application. A Qualitative approach is used to analyze WhatsApp messages sent by the students to their professors from 13/37/2022 to 13/38/2022. The data was collected from four WhatsApp groups for specific courses they study at Jerash university. Brown and Levinson’s (1987) politeness theory is used to analyze the politeness strategies that used by the students. The Cross Cultural Speech Act Realization Pattern (CCSARP) Blum-Kulka, S. & Olshtain, E. (1984) is followed to categorize the degrees of directness in the students WhatsApp messages. This research revealed that the undergraduate students employed different types of politeness strategies in their communication with their professors using WhatsApp. The level of directness was observed in their messages. It was found that the new students at the university were more direct in their messages unlike the students those were studying in the second, third or fourth years. This study helps professors to avoid misunderstanding the students messages while they are texting them by WhatsApp. Moreover, this study helps students to be aware of the best politeness strategies they have to use once they contact their professors. Future research can compare between politeness strategies that are used by Jordanian students and other students from other countries with their professors.
