المستخلص: يتناول هذا البحث مفهوم السُّلطة عند ثامسطيوس" دراسة في فلسفة السياسة"، ويُعدُّ مفهوم السلطة من المفاهيم الأساسية في فلسفة السياسة؛ إذ إنَّه تشكّل منذ أقدم العصور إلى اليوم تنظيرًا وممارسة، وقد تناول ثامسطيوس هذا المفهوم بالتحليل والنقد باعتباره فيلسوفًا سياسيا - في القرن الرابع الميلادي - حاول جاهدًا أن يُقدِّم تصورًا للسياسة الإمبراطورية في عصره، وقد قسمت البحث إلى تمهيد وسبعة عناصر، تناولت في التمهيد حياة ثامسطيوس وأهم مؤلفاته، أما العناصر فهي كالآتي، الأول: نشأة الدولة عند ثامسطيوس، والثاني: الفلسفة والسلطة، والثالث: السُّلطة وصفات الملك الفيلسوف، والرابع: السُّلطة ووظائفها، والخامس: السُّلطة والفضيلة، والسادس: ثيوقراطية السلطة، والسابع: السلطة والتسامح الديني. وقد توصل الباحث في نهاية بحثه إلى أن ثامسطيوس أعطى أهمية تطبيقية للفلسفة في عالم السياسة؛ إذ ربط بين الفلسفة والسلطة، بحيث تتاح للفلسفة إثبات فائدتها التطبيقية، كما أعطى أهمية كبيرة للتسامح الديني في السلطة، وهذه دعوة صريحة منه لحرية الفكر والعقيدة نادى بها في القرن الرابع الميلادي؛ فالعناية بعالم الروح ليست من اختصاص السلطة، وإنما هو اعتقاد واقتناع عقلي لكل فرد على حدة.

This research deals with The Concept of authority according to Themistius, “A Study in Political Philosophy”, the concept of authority is considered one of the basic concepts in political philosophy, considering that it has shaped thought and practice from the earliest times to the present, fourth-century political philosopher Themistius addressed this idea with analysis and criticism. Who made a sincere effort to portray a picture of imperial politics in his era. The research is divided into a preface and seven components. The preface deals with the life of Themistius and his most important works. The components are as follows: The first is the emergence of the state, according to Themistius. The second is philosophy and authority. The third is authority and the attributes of the philosopher-king. The fourth is authority and its functions. The fifth is authority and virtue. The sixth is the theocracy of authority. The seventh is authority and religious tolerance. At the end of his research, the researcher concluded that Themistius gave applied importance to philosophy in the world of politics. He associated philosophy with authority so that philosophy could prove its practical usefulness. He also placed a high value on religious tolerance in positions of power, and this was a clear demand for religious and philosophical freedom made by him in the fourth century. A person's belief and mental conviction to care for the spirit realm are their own, not those of a higher authority.
