| 520 | |b The continent of Africa, like other developing regions, faces numerous natural, economic, political, health, and social challenges, leading to a decline in overall conditions. These issues are compounded by demographic factors that burden African governments. Africa, one of the world›s largest continents, experiences high fertility rates alongside decreasing death rates, signaling a demographic lag for most countries, especially in sub- Saharan Africa. Only a few African nations undergo a historical demographic shift, resulting in a «demographic dividend.» However, this potential benefit has not been adequately harnessed, making it a real challenge. In contrast to developed countries, whose demographic window closed several decades ago, many African countries have yet to enter this phase. Nevertheless, some nations, including Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, and the Republic of South Africa, are experiencing an open demographic window | ||
