|a وتبرز أهمية هذه الدراسة من خلال تسليط الضوء على البدايات الأولى لمحاولات اكتشاف النفط السعودي، والتي وإن لم يحالفها الحظ، كانت أساسا بنيت عليه المحاولات الناجحة التي قامت بها الشركات الأمريكية فيما بعد. كما تلقي الدراسية الضوء على جهود المأجور فرانك هولمز في إحراز هذا السبق وموقف السلطان عبد العزيز من محاولات الحكومة البريطانية التي تقاطعت مع مصالح شركة النفط الإنجليزية -الفارسية ومحاولاتهم إفشال تلك التجربة الأولى. وإن كانت أهمية تسليط الضوء على امتياز الإحساء النفطي وعلى البحرين والكويت، وبدايات مسيرة اكتشاف النفط السعودي تكفي في حد ذاتها كدافع لاختيار هذا الموضوع ودراسته.
|b The importance of this study is highlighted by shedding light on the early beginnings of the attempts to discover Saudi oil, which, although unlucky, were the basis upon which the successful attempts made by American companies were built later. The study also sheds light on the efforts of Major Frank Holmes in achieving this precedent and the position of Sultan Abdulaziz on the attempts of the British government that intersected with the interests of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company and their attempts to thwart that first experiment. Although the importance of highlighting the Al-Ahsa oil concession, Bahrain and Kuwait, and the beginnings of the Saudi oil discovery process is sufficient in itself as a motive for choosing and studying this topic.
