|a إن جوهر نقد جاك إلول للتقنية يتعلق بأمرين أولا، ينتقد نطاق التكنولوجيا ومكانتها في حياتنا، والطريقة التي أصبحت بها التكنولوجيا قوة عالمية ومهيمنة ومقدسة فعليا في حياتنا وعالمنا. ويمتد إلى كل منطقة من عالمنا وإلى كل ركن من أركان حياتنا. إنها البيئة التي نعيش فيها. ثانيًا، يحذرنا من الطريقة التي تحمل بها التكنولوجيا مجموعة من القيم التي خاصة عندما يتم تجاهلها أو عدم الاعتراف بها، تفرض نفسها على حياتنا وعلاقاتنا بطرق مدمرة ومجردة من الإنسانية.
|b The essence of Jacques Ellul's critique of technology has to do with two things. First, it critiques the scope and place of technology in our lives, and the way in which technology has become a global, dominant, and virtually sacred force in our lives and our world. It extends to every area of our world and to every corner of our lives. It is the environment in which we live. Second, it warns us of the way technology carries a set of values that, especially when ignored or not acknowledged, imposes itself on our lives and relationships in destructive and dehumanizing ways.
