المستخلص: التراث هو حقيقة مادية قائمة تسجل ثقافة المجتمع وملامحه الإنسانية والفكرية عبر العصور، فله أهمية في تحديد هوية المجتمعات وطابعهم وإنتاجهم المادي والثقافي، ويعد ضرورة اجتماعية وثقافية، وركيزة من ركائز الطابع المعماري، والتراث هو الأساس الذي يمكن التعامل معه، وله القدرة على الترابط بين الماضي والحاضر. تتحدد مشكلة البحث في افتقاد منطقة الأهوار جنوب العراق إلى توظيف مفردات التراث المعماري العراقي المعبرة عن هويته في تصميم أثاث غرفة إقامة فندق صغير (موتيل Motel)، على الرغم من أن هذه المنطقة تقع بالقرب من الطريق الدولي الذي يربط جنوب العراق بوسطه وشماله، وتكمن أهمية البحث في تأصيل هوية التراث المعماري العراقي من خلال توظيف مفرداته في تصميم أثاث غرفة إقامة فندق صغير (موتيل Motel) بمنطقة الأهوار جنوب العراق يهدف البحث إلى إيجاد رؤية تصميمية لتوظيف مفردات التراث المعماري العراقي في تصميم الأثاث، بما يعزز وينمي الحس الجمالي والوعي الثقافي بالهوية التراثية المعمارية. ولتحقيق أهداف البحث، اعتمد البحث المنهج الوصفي والمنهج التحليلي. توصل الباحث إلى نتائج مفادها أن التأكيد على أهمية المفردات التراثية العمرانية يمكن الاستفادة منها في استلهام وابتكار تصميم أثاث حديث في غرفة إقامة فندق صغير (موتيل Motel) بمنطقة الأهوار جنوب العراق، لما تحويه من رموز لها علاقة بتاريخ البلد وتراثه، وإن البنايات التراثية المعمارية العراقية وما تضمنته من مفردات وعناصر تصميمية وزخارف يمكن الاستفادة منها في التصميم الداخلي والأثاث لتحقيق القيم الوظيفية والجمالية في التصميم، ويمكن توظيفها بأسلوبين: الأول الأسلوب المباشر، والثاني الأسلوب غير المباشر، عن طريق تبسيط خطوط مفردات وعناصر الأشكال التصميمية التراثية التي يمكن توظيفها في تصميم الأثاث. وأوصى الباحث لمصممي الأثاث بضرورة الاستلهام من العناصر التصميمية من مفردات التراث المعماري العراقي وتوظيفها في تصميم الأثاث، لما تحويه من رموز لها علاقة بتاريخ البلد وتراثه، وكذلك أوصى أصحاب القرار في منطقة الأهوار جنوب العراق بضرورة إنشاء فنادق صغيرة على الطريق المؤدي لها تتضمن غرف فندقية تحوي على أثاث مصمم بأسلوب مستلهم من التراث المعماري العراقي وبمواد مأخوذة من بيئة المنطقة.

Heritage is a tangible reality that records the culture, human, and intellectual aspects of society throughout the ages. It is important in defining the identities, characteristics, and material and cultural production of communities, and it is a social and cultural necessity and a cornerstone of architectural character. Heritage is the foundation that can be built upon and dealt with, and it has the ability to connect the past and the present. The research problem is identified in the lack of employing Iraqi architectural heritage elements, expressing its identity, in designing furniture for a small motel room in the southern Iraqi marshes region, despite the fact that this region is located near the international road that connects southern Iraq with its center and north. The importance of the research lies in grounding the identity of Iraqi architectural heritage by employing its elements in the design of furniture for a small motel room in the Marshes region of southern Iraq. The research aims to develop a design vision for employing Iraqi architectural heritage elements in furniture design, enhancing and developing aesthetic sensibility and cultural awareness of the identity of Iraqi architectural heritage. To achieve the research objectives, the research adopted a descriptive and analytical methodology. The researcher found that emphasizing the importance of urban heritage elements can be utilized to inspire and innovate modern furniture design in a small motel room, due to its symbols related to the country's history and heritage. Iraqi architectural heritage buildings and their included design elements, and decorations can be utilized in interior design and furniture to achieve functional and aesthetic values in design. They can be employed in two ways: directly, and indirectly, by simplifying the lines of heritage design elements that can be used in furniture design.

The researcher recommended furniture designers to draw inspiration from the design elements of Iraqi architectural heritage elements and employ them in furniture design, due to their symbols related to the country's history and heritage. The decision-makers in the southern Iraqi marshes region were also recommended to establish small hotels along the road leading to it, containing hotel rooms with furniture designed in a style inspired by Iraqi architectural heritage and materials taken from the region's environment. The concept of employing heritage refers to several ideas in understanding heritage, as it is linked to the historical, cultural and social dimensions and the physical pattern, as well as the spatial, regional and environmental dimensions, and the concepts of identity and privacy. These concepts can be divided into concepts related to the physical (material) level, and concepts related to the intellectual side of heritage. The motivation behind choosing the idea of research into employing the elements of the Iraqi architectural heritage in designing furniture for a small hotel room (motel) in the southern Iraqi marshes region is to solve the problem of the lack of the southern Iraqi marshes region in employing the elements of the Iraqi architectural heritage, which expresses its identity in furniture design. Although this area is located near the international road linking southern Iraq to its center and north. Due to the importance of research in establishing the identity of the Iraqi architectural heritage, with the aim of creating a design vision that employs its elements in designing furniture for a small hotel accommodation room, in a way that enhances and develops the aesthetic sense and cultural awareness of the identity of the Iraqi architectural heritage.

From an analytical study of Iraqi urban heritage elements, and an applied proposal to employ these elements in furniture design, the results came that it is possible to benefit from employing and drawing inspiration from heritage elements in designing modern furniture in the accommodation room of a small hotel (motel) in the marshes region in southern Iraq, due to the symbols it contains. Research importance: The importance of the research lies in establishing the identity of the Iraqi architectural heritage by employing its elements in designing the furniture of a small hotel room (motel) in the marshes region in southern Iraq. Research goal: The research aims to find a design vision for employing the elements of the Iraqi architectural heritage in designing the furniture of a small hotel room (motel) , in a way that enhances and develops the aesthetic sense and cultural awareness of the identity of the Iraqi architectural heritage. Research Methodology: The research relies on the descriptive method and the analytical method. Results and discussion: Through the researcher’s analytical study of the Iraqi urban heritage Elements and an applied proposal to employ this elements in designing furniture for a small hotel room (motel) in the marshes region of southern Iraq, the researcher reached results that: 1- Emphasizing the importance of urban heritage Elements can be used to inspire and create a modern furniture design in the accommodation room of a small hotel (motel) in the southern Iraqi marshes region, because it contains symbols related to the country’s history and heritage. 2- The Iraqi architectural heritage buildings and the elements, design elements and decorations they contain can be used in interior design and furniture to achieve functional and aesthetic values in the design. 3- The elements of architectural heritage can be used in two ways: the first is the direct method, and the second is the indirect method. 4- Simplifying the lines and elements of traditional design shapes can be used in furniture design in the style of reduction, abstraction, repetition and addition. The importance of the research results lies in presenting a design vision inspired by the elements of the Iraqi architectural heritage that can be applied in designing the furniture of a small hotel (motel) room in the marshes region of southern Iraq, to solve the research problem of this region’s lack of employing the elements of the Iraqi architectural heritage, which expresses its identity.

Although this area is located near the international road linking southern Iraq to its center and north, which negatively affects recognition of the urban and cultural heritage of the country. Through the analytical study of these elements carried out by the researcher, different design solutions were presented to address the research problem. The researcher concluded that the elements of the architectural heritage can be employed in two ways: the first is the direct method, and the second is the indirect method, and simplifying the lines of the elements and elements of the heritage design forms can be used in designing furniture in the style of reduction and abstraction. The researcher achieved the use of elements inspired by the Iraqi architectural heritage by presenting a design for room furniture In an accommodation in a small hotel (motel). Thus, the results of the research are achieved by presenting a design method to achieve the design vision of employing the elements of the Iraqi architectural heritage in interior design and furniture in the southern Iraqi marshes region. Through the results presented and discussed in the research, we can conclude that solutions can be provided to the research problem regarding the lack of the southern Iraqi marshes region to employ the elements of the Iraqi architectural heritage, expressing its identity in the design of the furniture of a small hotel (motel) room, despite the fact that this area is located near the international road linking southern Iraq with its center and north, through the researcher’s analytical study of the Iraqi urban heritage elements and an applied proposal to employ this elements in designing the furniture of a small hotel room (motel) in the marshes region of southern Iraq, and the emphasis on the importance of urban heritage elements can be used to inspire and create modern furniture design because of the symbols it contains that are related to the country’s history and heritage. The importance of the research lies in establishing the identity of the Iraqi architectural heritage by employing its elements in designing furniture for a small hotel room (motel) in the southern Iraqi marshes region, with the aim of creating a design vision to employ the elements of the Iraqi architectural heritage in designing furniture, in a way that enhances and develops the aesthetic sense and cultural awareness of the Iraqi architectural heritage. The research relied on the descriptive approach and the analytical approach in achieving the results and the research hypothesis. We can express the elements of the Iraqi architectural heritage by employing these elements in designing furniture for a room set up by a small hotel (motel) in the marshes region in southern Iraq.
