|b Orthodox financial theory, based on the efficiency of financial markets and the rationality of actors, has long been the dominant paradigm of financial theory. The foundations of such a theory have been challenged by heterodox approaches to finance, consisting of behavioral finance and conventional finance. The latter, of which Orléan is the most prominent representative, analyzes the functioning of the financial market and the behavior of actors based on the concept of social representation or convention. The aim of this article is to present the contributions of convention theory on the basis of a methodology based on documentary research. There are three such contributions: the formation of financial prices, the explanation of financial bubbles, and the definition of a new financial rationality, known as mimetic rationality.
|d La théorie financière orthodoxe, basée sur l'efficience des marchés financiers et la rationalité des acteurs, a pendant longtemps été le paradigme dominant de la théorie financière. Les fondements d'une telle théorie ont été remis en cause par les approches hétérodoxes de la finance, formées de la finance comportementale et de la finance conventionnaliste. Cette dernière, dont Orléan est l'éminent représentant, analyse le fonctionnement du marché financier et le comportement des acteurs à partir du concept de représentation sociale ou convention. Le présent article a pour objectif de présenter les apports de la théorie des conventions sur la base d'une méthodologie axée sur la recherche documentaire. De tels apports sont au nombre de trois formation des prix financiers, explication des bulles financières, définition d'une nouvelle rationalité financière, dite rationalité mimétique.
