المستخلص: مع هبوب رياح النهضة وبداية دخول العالم العربي والإسلامي عهد اليقظة استلزم إعادة النظر في الموروث الثقافي الذي وصل إلينا عبر القرون لتقييمه وتمحيصه وإعادة إدماج الصالح منه في حركة البعث الحضاري التي بدأت. وكان علم الكلام من بين هذه العلوم التي خضعت لعملية المراجعة والانتقاء، وانقسم الباحثون إزاءه إلى شقين؛ شق ينادي بإبقائه كمقرر مركزي لدراسة العقيدة بعد تخليصه مما شابه عبر العصور من مناهج فاسدة ومواضيع دخيلة وقضايا قديمة تجاوزها الزمن وتجديده ليتماشى مع تحديات العصر والحاضر، وقسم ثاني يطالب بإلغائه بالكلية ومنع تدريسه لعدم اتفاقه مع التوجهات الحقيقية للعقيدة الإسلامية كما جاءت بها نصوص الوحي واختلاطه بالمناهج الفلسفية اليونانية والوثنية الوافدة وعدم مواكبته لمستجدات العصر الحديث، ويأتي هذا البحث ليرسم ملامح علم الكلام ويؤكد أصالته وحجة الداعين إلى تجديده وتحديثه لذلك وسمته بعلم الكلام بين الأصالة والتجديد.

With the decline of the winds of Renaissance and the beginning of the Arab and Islamic world entering the era of awakening, it was necessary to reconsider the cultural heritage that had reached us over the centuries to evaluate it, scrutinize it, and reintegrate the good from it into the civilizational revival movement that had begun, Theology was among these sciences that underwent a review and selection process, and researchers were divided into two parts regarding it: a faction calls for keeping it as a central curriculum for the study of faith after ridding it of corrupt curricula, foreign topics, and old issues that have been outdated throughout the ages, and renewing it to be in line with the challenges of the times and the present. A second section demands that it be completely abolished and that its teaching be banned due to its lack of agreement with the true orientations of the Islamic faith as stated in the texts of revelation, its mixing with the imported Greek and pagan philosophical approaches, and its failure to keep pace with the developments of the modern era. This research comes to draw the features of the science of theology and confirm its originality and the argument of those calling for its renewal and modernization; Therefore, I called it the science of theology between originality and innovation.
