المستخلص: يدرس هذا البحث العتبات النصية في المجموعة القصصية (طرقة باب) للمؤلف الدكتور سهل الشرعان، ويسعى لإبراز مدى احتفاء المؤلف بالعتبات النصية، ومعرفة خصائصها، وإظهار وظائفها، ودورها في التأثير على المتلقين، كما يدرس البحث أثر العتبات والقيم الجمالية التي أضافتها لهذه المجموعة القصصية، وجاء هذا البحث في تمهيد ومبحثين، فأما التمهيد ففيه نبذة أولى عن العتبات النصية، وأنواعها، ووظائفها، ونبذة ثانية عن المجموعة القصصية (طرقة باب) ومؤلفها، أما المبحث الأول: ففيه دراسة للعتبات الثابتة، والمبحث الثاني: فيه دراسة للعتبات المتغيرة، وقد جاءت هذه الدراسات اعتمادا على عدة مناهج، منها المنهج السيميائي، والمنهج الإنشائي، ومن نتائج هذا البحث: بروز وظيفة العتبات في المجموعة بشكل واضح، حيث أدت وظيفتها المناطة بها، كما كان حضور العتبات المتغيرة قليلا، فلم يكن حضورها بقدر العتبات الثابتة، فظهرت عتبات: المؤشر الأجناسي، والتصدير فقط، في حين اختفت عتبات: المقدمة، والاستهلال، والإهداء، كما جمع الكاتب في مجموعته بين ثلاث قصص تربوية وتوعوية، وأطلق عليها (طرقة باب)؛ نظرا لأهميتها، فكأنه يريد أن تطرق هذه الرسائل التوعوية باب كل أسرة.

This research explores the textual thresholds in the short story collection ‘A Knock on a Door’ by Dr. Sahl Al-Shar'an. It aims to highlight the writer’s mastery of textual thresholds, understanding their characteristics, demonstrating their functions, and examining their impact on the recipients. It also investigates the influence of the thresholds and aesthetic values added to this story collection. The research is divided into an introduction and two chapters. The introduction provides an initial overview of textual thresholds, their types, and functions, as well as a brief background on the short story collection ‘A Knock on a Door’ and its writer. The first chapter focuses on the study of fixed thresholds, while the second chapter examines variable thresholds. These studies employ various methodologies, including semiotic and constructional approaches. The findings of this research indicate a clear manifestation of the function of thresholds in the collection as they fulfill their designated roles. However, the presence of variable thresholds is relatively limited compared to fixed thresholds. The following thresholds appeared: designation indicator and exposition only, while the thresholds of introduction, prelude, and dedication disappeared. Furthermore, the author has combined three didactic and awareness-oriented stories in this collection, which he called ‘A Knock on a Door’ emphasizing their significance. It is as if he intends for these enlightening messages to knock on the door of every family.
