|a المشاركة هي النشاط الطوعي للفرد في الشؤون السياسية، عبر التصويت والعضوية والنشاط المتصل بالمجموعات السياسية من قبل مجموعات المصالح والحركات والأحزاب السياسية، وتولى المناصب في المؤسسات السياسية، وممارسة القيادة السياسية والأنشطة غير النظامية، مثل المظاهرات ومحاولة إقناع السلطات أو الناس بالعمل بطرق معينة فيما يتعلق بالأحداث السياسية. ولهذا يرتبط المصطلح ارتباطا وثيقا بالنظم السياسية الديمقراطية، فالأنظمة غير الديمقراطية تميل إلى تقييد مشاركة الجمهور أو توجيهها بطرق محددة مسبقاً.
|b Participation is the voluntary activity of an individual in political affairs, through voting, membership, and political group-related activity by interest groups, movements, and political parties, holding office in political institutions, exercising political leadership, and informal activities, such as demonstrations and attempts to persuade authorities or people to act in certain ways in relation to political events. The term is therefore closely associated with democratic political systems, as non-democratic systems tend to restrict or direct public participation in predetermined ways.
