The half-distance has always been considered the most spectacular queen in all athletics meetings. Indeed, national records are significant compared to world records like the athletes Morceli and Boulmerka. The military sport, by means of the new means and the new policy of the Ministry of Defence to be present at all international events, has taken on another dimension in the selection of athletes. It is in this context that our study focuses on the physical qualities of Algerian runners selected in senior men’s national team in the half-distance discipline and in order to determine the physical characteristics for this athletic specialty, compare them with international standards. For this, a sample of 15 athlete’s half-distance and they are submitted to a battery of physical tests, anthropometric measures. from this we obtained the following results, on the anthropometric side our athletes have an average of (181.6cm 3.54) for height, and an average of (70.93kg 3.54),for weight, and finally an average of (183.6cm 5.02),For circumferential measurements The average values of the half-distance athletes selected in the national military team of Algeria gave the following results: contracted arm (28.2 1.81), forearm (22.37 1.41), thigh (48.84 3.61), leg (35.98 2.04). The same applies to skin folds and body composition All folds, under-fold scapular (4.80 0.52), bicipital (4.19 0.80), triciptal (5.24 1.26), belly (4.73 0.69), supra iliac (5.98 0.86), thigh (8.20.83), and last leg average is (6.32 0.93).
