المستخلص: This article explores the linguistic practices of computer science students in Algeria, focusing on the Higher School of Computer Science (ESI) at the University of Sidi Bel Abbes. French, as the language of instruction long practiced in Algerian universities, and English, recently promoted by the Algerian government for scientific research and the technological industry, remain highly sought after by all students. This article delves into the languages that coexist in the linguistic interactions of students in the field of learning computer science. The objective is to describe this linguistic landscape by exploring students' language preferences and the underlying motivations behind these choices. By analyzing these practices, we seek to understand the extent to which English can supplant French and which factors influence students' language choices in this emerging field.

Cet article explore les pratiques langagières des étudiants en informatique en Algérie, en se concentrant sur l'école supérieure d'informatique (ESI) à l'université de Sidi Bel Abbes. le français comme langue d'enseignement longtemps pratiquée à l’université algérienne, l'anglais promu récemment par le gouvernement algérien pour la recherche scientifique et l'industrie technologique, demeure aussi très sollicité par l’ensemble des étudiants, cet article se penche sur ces langues qui coexistent dans les interactions langagières des étudiants dans le domaine de l’apprentissage de l'informatique. L'objectif est de décrire ce paysage linguistique en explorant les préférences linguistiques des étudiants, ainsi que les motivations sous-jacentes à ces choix. En analysant ces pratiques, nous cherchons à savoir puis à comprendre dans quelle mesure l'anglais peut supplanter le français et quels facteurs influent sur les choix linguistiques des étudiants dans ce domaine émergent.
