Navigating through the urban landscape while addressing the daily challenges prompts the fundamental question: Where does the city begin? Its influence is pervasive, reaching beyond its borders and extending into the mountains. The city serves as a fertile ground for exploring a myriad of questions and dilemmas, both specific and broad, that pertain to Algerian society and its sociological underpinnings. Urban spaces often become the epicenters for studying social phenomena, allowing researchers to delve into the dynamics of these environments and their widespread impacts. The rural exodus emerges as a quintessential example of such phenomena. It provides valuable insights into the dynamics between rural and urban areas, facilitating an understanding of the shifts observed during transitional periods, particularly notable in the 1990s. This era was pivotal in transforming Algeria’s urban landscape, enhancing our comprehension of its realities and the key stakeholders involved. |
