المستخلص: تمثل دراسة وتصنيف الخصائص السكانية (الديموغرافية) أهمية كبيرة باعتبار أن السكان هم الهدف والغاية للتنمية، ومنهم وإليهم توضع الخطط والبرامج الاقتصادية والاجتماعية التي تهدف لتحسين أنماط حياتهم بشكل مستدام، ونظرا لما طرأ من تغيرات تنموية شهدتها المملكة منذ بداية خطط التنمية 1970 م، ودخول البترول بوصفه قوة اقتصادية أسهمت في تنوع وبروز خصائص سكانية جديدة استجابة للتحولات التنموية الحضرية والريفية بمناطق المملكة العربية السعودية ومنطقة عسير على وجه الخصوص والتي لها ارتباط مباشر بالتنمية السكانية، ولفهم طبيعة هذه التغيرات وتأثيراتها تم تحليل عدد من المؤشرات السكانية بمنطقة الدراسة تضم (20) متغيرا تم معالجتها باستخدام أسلوب التحليل العاملي للكشف عن علاقتها ودورها في التنمية المستدامة بمنطقة الدراسة، وقد أظهرت النتائج وجود عاملين مهمين: الأول بجذور كامنة تبلغ (75.930) ونسبة تباين (87.434%)، والعامل الثاني بجذور كامنة مقدارها (93,607) ونسبة تباين (10,779%)، وتبين وجود علاقات ارتباطية قوية وضعيفة جاءت متباينة ضمن العوامل المشتقة أسهمت في توزيع الخصائص السكانية وتباينها المكاني بين المناطق الحضرية والريفية في منطقة عسير، وقد أكدت الدراسة أهمية وضع البرامج والخطط التنموية الشاملة والمتكاملة محليا وإقليميا، ودعم تنفيذها وفق متطلباتها التنموية من الخدمات اللازمة للتنمية السكانية؛ مما يعزز أهمية منطقة عسير بوصفها مركزا وطنيا، يسهم في تجاوز التحديات للوصول إلى تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة في إطار رؤية المملكة العربية السعودية 2030 م.

The study and classification of population characteristics (demographics) is of great importance, considering that the population is the objective and purpose of development, and from them and to them economic and social plans and programs are developed that aim to improve their lifestyles in a sustainable manner. In view of the developmental changes that the Kingdom has witnessed since the beginning of the development plans in 1970, and the discovery of oil as an economic force that contributed to the diversity and emergence of new population characteristics in response to the urban and rural development transformations in the regions of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Assir region in particular, which have a direct link to population development. In order to understand the nature of these changes and their effects, a number of population indicators were analyzed in the study area, including (20) variables, which were processed using the factor analysis method to reveal their relationship and role in sustainable development in the study area. The conclusions revealed the presence of two important factors, the first factor with latent roots reaching (75.930) and a variance ratio of (87.434%), and the second factor with latent roots reaching (93.607) and a variance ratio of (10.779%). It was found that there were strong and weak correlations that were different among the derived factors that contributed to the distribution of population characteristics and their spatial variation between urban and rural areas in Assir region. The study emphasized the importance of developing comprehensive and integrated development programs and plans locally and regionally and supporting their implementation according to their development requirements of services necessary for population development, which enhances the importance of Assir region as a national center. This contributes to overcoming challenges to achieve the goals of sustainable development within the framework of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
