المستخلص: Terrorism has evolved into a trans-border phenomenon that transcends time and location, it is no longer the product of a certain age or confined within a particular border. This research was made to address terrorism as one of the crucial issues, which is both a practice and a doctrine, it’s an idea and an Act. The research studies manifestation of terrorism in Urdu literature, and the ideological and cultural background of Urdu authors, whether writers or poets, especially that an Urdu author holds his Islamic and eastern identity while addressing issues of the community. The first pages of the research discuss the definition of extremism, from its origin and how it transforms into an act of terrorism, in order to examine this phenomenon in the context of this definition. This research monitored several aspects through various poetic examples, as follows: First: the Religious aspect: the research found that almost all of the writers who addressed this phenomenon blamed the distorted understanding of religion and its teachings; in addition they talked about those who exploited people who misunderstood religion or had almost no information about it. Thus, concepts like tolerance, anti-violence, and peaceful coexistence arose artistically to combat this imminent danger. Second: the Political aspect: this phenomenon was not limited to the geographical boundaries of Pakistani only, as the poets’ vision extended beyond its borders. This was seen in them picturing places like Basra, Lebanon, and Palestine, which revealed the political roots of this phenomenon, something that had a pivotal role in its emergence and spread. Third: the Social aspect: this aspect defines the real dilemma facing humanity at large and not only Muslims; for terrorism does not differentiate between a Muslim and a non- Muslim. Terrorism filled everyone’s hearts with desolation, destruction, fear and terror; hence this social aspect was reflected on the other two –religious and politics- aspects, to fold into one paper. The research then moved to the role of soft powers like: media, arts, education, and the means of tackling this phenomenon. It later went on to discuss the means by which Urdu poetry addressed this phenomenon starting from short story to novel, and ending with poetry that gave this phenomenon vast lines. Poetry discussed terrorism with diversity and profoundness; it also explained it through symbols and signs that reflected the dilemma of modern man and his pain. Poetry became a means to manifest the impacts of terrorism and its dangers within the deep rooted dilemma of man. The research was divided into a number of main titles and subtitles, as follows: 1- Introduction: extremism and terrorism, and combating them through literature. - First: what is extremism and terrorism? - Second: combating extremism and terrorism in the Urdu Literature. 2- The phenomenon of terrorism reflected in Urdu Literature (Analytical Critical Study of Chosen Examples) 3- Conclusion.
