يتناول هذا البحث مفهوم الفلسفة، ووظيفتها، وعلاقتها بالعلم والقيم، ثم تطورها من المفهوم التقليدي إلى معناها في عالمنا المعاصر، خاصة عند أصحاب المدرسة البراجماتية، وقد جاء البحث في ثلاث محاور: الأول تناولنا فيه معنى الفلسفة، ووظيفتها، وعلاقتها بالعلم والقيم في العالم القديم، المحور الثاني: تناولنا فيه تطور مفهوم الفلسفة من المعنى التقليدي إلى مفهومها في عالمنا المعاصر، أما المحور الثالث: فتناولنا فيه معنى الفلسفة ووظيفتها وعلاقتها بالإنسان عند أصحاب المدرسة البراجماتية. وقد انتهينا في هذه الدراسة إلى بعض النتائج منها أن الانتقال من المثالية والواقعية إلى البراجماتية هو انتقال من الأمس إلى الغد، انتقال من فلسفة غايتها محبة الحكمة، والبحث عنها إلى فلسفة تدرس الأفكار ليست كوسيلة للمعرفة بل أداة لتحقيق منفعة، وترى البراجماتية ضرورة التطبيق العام لمناهج العلم في كل ميدان ممكن من ميادين البحث حيث أنه الوسيلة الوحيدة القادرة على حل مشكلات الديمقراطية الصناعية، ولا فرق هنا بين اقتصاد، أو تربية، أو دين، أو أخلاق، أو سياسة، فالفلسفة عند البراجماتية في حقيقتها منهج، لا يعنيه أن يقدم حقائق جديدة بقدر ما يقدم منهج يطبق في كل موضوع، والأفكار عندها زرائع، تتزرع بها في توجيه السلوك وضبطه توجيهًا وضبطًا يحقق للإنسان غاياته المنشودة، فمهما تكن الفكرة فهي تتضمن خطة العمل، كما ترفض البراجماتية الرجوع إلى معيار معين تقاس به القيم وتفترض عدم الثبات في القيم والمعايير، بل تستوجب - ضرورة تغييرها لتلائم الظروف القائمة، وعلى ذلك فكل فرد في نظر البراجماتية مسئول أمام المشكلة التي تعترضه، مسئول عن حلها، وقد جعلت البراجماتية للفرد وظيفة عملية أكثر منها أبستمولوجية، فالعقل الفردي مهم، لأنه أداة التعديلات في التقاليد والنظم، والسبيل إلى الإبداع، والبراجماتية أيضا مذهب يرى أن معيار صدق الآراء والأفكار إنما هو في قيمة عواقبها عملا، وأن المعرفة أداة لخدمة مطالب الحياة، وأن صدق قضية ما كونها مفيدة، والبراجماتي بوجه عام وصف لكل من يهدف إلى النجاح، أو إلى منفعة خاصة.
This research deals with the concept of philosophy, its function, and its relationship to science and values, then its development from the traditional concept to its meaning in our contemporary world, especially among the owners of the pragmatic school. We have finished this study to some results, including that the transition from the Idealism and realism to pragmatism is a transition from yesterday to tomorrow, a transition from a philosophy that aims to love wisdom, and searching for it to a philosophy that studies ideas not as a means of knowledge but as a tool for achieving benefit, and pragmatism considers the necessity of general application of science curricula in every possible field of research as it is the only means Able to solve the problems of industrial democracy, and there is no difference here between economics, education, religion, ethics, or politics. Philosophy in pragmatism is in fact a method, it does not mean to present new facts as much as it provides a method applied in every topic, and ideas have plantations, Are planted in directing th Lock and set it as a directive and a setting that achieves the desired goals for the human being. Whatever the idea is, it includes an action plan. Also, pragmatism refuses to refer to a specific standard by which values are measured and assumes instability in values and standards, but rather requires - the necessity of changing them to suit existing conditions, and accordingly everyone in the view of pragmatism Responsible to the problem it faces, responsible for solving it, and has made the pragmatism of the individual a more practical than an epistemological function, because the individual mind is important, because it is a tool for modifications in traditions and systems, the path to creativity, and pragmatism is also a doctrine that believes that the criterion of honesty of opinions and ideas is in the value of consequences A job, and that knowledge of the tool to serve the demands of life, and that the sincerity of a case being useful and pragmatic in general description of each is aimed at success, or to a private benefit.
