Literary translation plays an essential role in promoting Algeria's rich literary tradition internationally. However, Algerian translators currently confront significant obstacles. This research paper aims to explore the realities of literary translators in Algeria and the challenges they face. The study utilizes a qualitative methodology to comprehensively explore the current realities of literary translation in Algeria and discuss the main challenges faced by Algerian literary translators. The study finds that the challenges that confront literary translators in Algeria include the absence of specialized training, the lack of institutional support, the dearth of strategic planning and incentives in publishing houses, the limited engagement with global literature, and the intricate cultural and linguistic complexities associated with translating Algerian literature. In light of these challenges, this study aims to contribute to the development of strategies and recommendations that can address the obstacles faced by Algerian translators. These may include the establishment of specialized training programs focused on literary translation, increased institutional support and recognition for translators, the implementation of strategic plans and incentives within publishing houses to prioritize translation efforts, fostering a greater engagement with global literature, and the utilization of modern translation technologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of translations. |
