|a يتناول هذا المقال العلامتين اللتان نقشا على ظهر صلاية نعرمر خلف رأس العدو الذي صور راكعاً أمام الملك نعرمر القابض على رأسه ويهم بضربه بمقمعته. وقد اختلفت آراء ودراسات الباحثين حول ماهية العلامتان ومعنهما هل هما علامتان كتابيتان يعبران عن اسم المنطقة أو المقاطعة المنتمي لها العدو أم يعبران عن اسم العدو نفسه ويدعى Wes (وعش) أو لقبه؟ ومن المحتمل أيضا أن العلامتان لا يعبران عن اسماً بل عن وصف لفعل أو لحدث ديني؟ ويهدف المقال إلى حصر جميع الآراء والدراسات القديمة والحديثة التي قدمت تفسيرات مختلفة للعلامتين، وتقديم مناقشة لتلك الآراء لاستنتاج معنى العلامتين، وما الذي يعبران عنه بصلاية نعرمر؟
|b This article deals with the two signs that were inscribed on the verso of Narmer Palette behind the enemy's head, in which he was shown kneeling before King Narmer, clutching his head and about to strike him with his mace head. Researchers' views and studies have differed about what the two signs are and their meaning. Are they two written signs that express the name of the region or Nome to which the enemy belongs, or do they express the name of the enemy himself, called W'S (Washa) or his title? The two signs may not be a name, but instead a description of a religious act or event. The article aims to limit and list all the ancient and modern views that provided different interpretations of the two signs and provide a discussion of those views to conclude the meaning of the two signs, and what they express in the Narmer Palette.
