This article aims to highlight the great danger of the spread of hate speech in cyberspace, through modern communication technologies that enable the rapid spread of this speech, which amplifies racial, ethnic and religious discrimination in digital spaces, where individuals and groups exploit the open nature of the Internet to spread divisive ideologies by employing social stereotypes, political manipulation and exclusionary beliefs as major contributors to the spread of hate speech, which is classified into different levels: from biased attitudes and prejudices to violence and even genocide. Hate speech demonstrates an escalating nature of hostility across digital space, which affects societal stability, by promoting division, hostility and violence. To confront this phenomenon, we call for stronger legislation, better monitoring of social media platforms, and educational efforts to promote tolerance and reduce the impact of hate speech in the digital sphere. |
