أدى تصاعد الإرهاب والتطرف والعنف في إفريقيا إلى تهديد الأمن بشكل مثير للقلق على المستوى المحلي، الإقليمي والعالمي، حيث أدت هذه الظاهرة المتنامية إلى الموت والدمار وعدم الاستقرار في البلدان والمناطق التي تعمل فيها الجماعات الإرهابية. ويمكن أن يُعزى ذلك إلى العوامل الاجتماعية والسياسية والاقتصادية مجتمعة. ومثال على ذلك في نيجيريا، أدت أعمال جماعة بوكو حرام إلى مقتل آلاف الأشخاص وتشريدهم. كما جعلت البلدان المجاورة عرضة للتفجيرات وعمليات الاختطاف وعدم الاستقرار. وهذا أيضا ما حدث في الصومال، حيث تهدد حركة الشباب بزعزعة استقرار دولة هشة من كل النواحي، وتعوق التنمية المستدامة والديمقراطية. وفي حين أن هذه الجماعات وغيرها منتشرة في الشمال والشرق والغرب والقرن الإفريقي، فقد خلقت معضلة قارية لأنها تهدد الأمن السياسي والاجتماعي والاقتصادي الإفريقي الأكبر. تسعى هذه الدراسة لإلقاء الضوء على ظاهرة الإرهاب والتطرف أسبابها ودوافعها، ثم تعطي نبذة عن قارة إفريقيا حيث تدور على أرضها أنشطة إحدى الجماعات التي أدرجت ضمن التنظيمات الإرهابية وهي حركة بوكو حرام في نيجيريا حيث تتعرض الدراسة إلى أسباب نشأتها، والآثار التي ترتبت على أنشطتها بنيجيريا والدول المجاورة وإقليمياً، كما تبرز الدراسة دور الحكومة المحلية ومساعي المنظمات الدولية لإيجاد معالجات لهذه المشكلة وتختتم الدراسة برسم تنبؤات ورؤى عن مستقبل هذه الحركة والمتأثرين بها.
The rise in terrorism, violence and extremism in Africa has created severe security threats locally, regionally and globally as this growing phenomenon has resulted in death, destruction and instability in the countries and regions where terrorist groups operate. The social, political and economic considered being key factors in igniting and fueling of this threat.Taking Nigeria as an example, the actions of Boko Haram have left thousands of people dead, disabled and displaced. The neighbouring countries consequently affected and became more susceptible to bombings and kidnappings. The same story has occurred in Somalia, where al-Shabaab threatens the stability of an already – by all means- fragile state, disabling its sustainable development and democracy. Whilst these and other groups are prevalent in the north, east, west and Horn of Africa, they have created a continental dilemma as they threaten the larger African political, social and economic security. This paper intends to shed the light on the terrorism and extremism phenomenon; its causes and motives, it also gives a brief about Africa, that continent that hosts one of the most violent groups that was considered a terrorist group. Boko Haram now gripping a big portion North-Eastern Nigeria causing tremendous destruction in the country and in the neighbourhood, the causes, motives and impact of these violent activities are the major objectives of this paper, together with its intention to disclose the local, regional and international roles and efforts in resolving the dispute. And finally, the paper would delinate the future expectations for both Boko Haramand Nigeria.
