This study aims at investigating the function of ana'a ( أنَّى ) in the Arabic Dictionaries. Interpretation of the Holy Qur'an, and Grammar Books for there is no previous study on this topic, to the best of my knowledge. The study concludes that: 1. The Arabic Dictionaries mention three meanings for ana'a أنَّى) ) (when, how, Where, and where from) and they think ana'a ( أنَّى ) is an adverb that can be used as a condition like if. 2. ana'a ( أنَّى ) came in the Holy Qur'an 28 times. The interpreters of the Holy Qura'an mention five meanings of ana'a ( :(أنَّى how, where from, when, since, and from nay direction. These meanings are close to echo there and this causes a problem for the interpreters of this adverb. However, this closeness is a problem but ana'a ( أنَّى ) is different in its use and meaning. 3. one can conclude from interpreters that ana'a ( أنَّى ) is an interrogative word or adverb of place. 4. the passers of Arabic believe it is an adverb that can be movable in the sentence. They agree that it is conditional and can be found in how, where, when, and where form. 5. the parsers of Arabic believe that ana'a ( أنَّى ) is like ena'a إنَّ) )– a conditional noun, that includes if ( إنْ ), in the place of an adverb of place. 6. ana'a ( أنَّى ) has to phases of parsing: - a conditional noun - interrogative noun These are the main issues that were dealt with in the study.
