يعالج هذا البحث أفكارا شككت في نظام العربية وقواعدها متأثرة بالدراسات الحديثة ومناهجها فحاول تتبع رواد هذا التشكيك ومبتدعيه وأنصاره ومحدثيه من جهة. ومن تمسك بأصالة هذا النظام ودافع عن قواعده وأصوله والتزم بقياسه وسماعه وآمن بسلامته وآثر اتباعه من جهة أخرى. ولعل من أخطر هذه المحاولات والأفكار وأشدها مساسا بجوهر العربية مادة ودرسا قناعة استشرت في جمهرة من الدراسات الحديثة مفادها أن شطرا واسعا من المادة اللغوية التي قام على أساسها درس العربية في العصور كلها، فضلا عن بعض خصائصها الفريدة المميزة لها من غيرها من اللغات ، لم تصدر عن ملكة فطرية، ولم تتفق مع سجايا العرب وطباعهم في الكلام. وصدقها بعض علمائنا المعاصرين ونظروا لها فازدادت انتشارا. فناقش البحث هذه الآراء وأضدادها مستقرئا وعارضا وواصفا وموازنا ومحللا بما يتناسب وحجمه. ليتيح لقارئه الإلمام بمجمل هذه الاراء كي يختار منها ما يناغم قناعته. ويرجح ما رسخ دليله. ويتخذ غيره مناطا للرفض والرد والمزيد من البحث والتتبع. وانتهى البحث والاستقراء إلى ان اللغة التى تكلمها العرب في عصور الرواية والمشافهة، التى مازالت لغة العلم والفكر، هي لغة طبيعية النشأة ،نشأت عن سلائق فصيحة لم تعرف الزيف والتكلف والاصطناع. وهي الحقيقة التى أرسى دعائمها القدماء ووطدوا أركانها. وتتابعت على الاعتقاد الراسخ بها أجيال من طلاب العربية وعلمائها .
