إن لمقولات (سوسير) في العصر الحديث عن الدال والمدلول و اعتباطية العلاقة بينهما, حجر الأساس الذي أستند عليه )أوستين( في بناء نظريته, فضلا عن اسهام الشكلانيين الروس ونظرتهم الشكًلية التي حاولوا إغنائها بمعنى جديد. من خلال نظرية (أوستين) نتوصل إلى أنه بمقدورنا أن ننجز الأشياء بالكلام عن طريق النظرة الاجتماعية للغة, وعدم اقتصارها على الوظيفة النفعية والإيصالية فحسب. أن أهم المحسوسات الجمالية في فعل الكلام في المسرح, تتمثل في إبراز متن الحكاية, وقوة التصادم بين الشخصيات, أي بين الإرادات في حبكة درامية, وقد تمحور المحسوس الجمالي في مسرح صلاح عبد الصبور حول تلك الدلالات الواردة في ملفوظات فعل الكلام الملتصقة بالحدث المركزي, وهي ملفوظات شعرية استفهامية تصب في السؤال العام أو الموضوع الدلالي الذي يتمثل في المفارقة بين الكلام / والصمت. \
