The study aimed to identify the role of village local units in the development of new rural communities recently put under the umbrella of local administration, through identifying settlers’ satisfaction level towards provided local services, and the problems facing them. The study is conducted in two villages in “Abo Al- matameer” district “markaz” in Behira governorate. These two villages are: “Al-Sedeek Al-Gadida” recently joined to the local administration and “Adam” village -not joined to the local administration. A random sample of 238 interviewed persons was chosen, representing about 15% of the total sampling frame (128 from “Al-Sedeek Al-Gadida” village and 110 from “Adam” village) and the selection criteria took into account that those persons are: head of household, permanently resident in village and have children in education age. Data were collected by personal interview questionnaire. According to the analysis of the answers obtained from the interviews, the study concluded with some important recommendations related to providing the basic services and facilities in Al-Sedeek village; Al- Gadida” specially sanitation, public transportation, school needs of teachers, establishing of secondary schools, raising the efficiency of the staff of local units, and encouraging popular participation.
