سعى البحث إلى دراسة ظاهرة من ظواهر العربية كان علماء اللغة قد عنوا بها وعرضوا لها مصنفاتهم, حيث حاول أن يرسم صورة لها, وقد سلكنا لهذه الغاية سبلا متعددة, تمثلت في استقراء كل ما يمت للمزاوجة بصلة, إذا تقوم هذه الظاهرة على نظام من الأحكام يتخرج عليها الكثير من الصور اللغوية التي فزع إليها العربي في كلامه؛ إيفاء لنظم الكلام وسياقه, وإن خالف أصل الوضع اللغوي. وقد استندت هذه الدراسة إلى منهج وصفي في البحث والتحليل, اتجهت فيه إلى ملاحظة الظاهرة في صورها المختلفة, ثم رصدها وتعريفها محاولين تقديم تفسير مؤسس على ضوء ملاحظات القدامى و المحدثين, ورأينا أن نتحدث أولا عن المزاوجة حدها وخصائصها فكان ذلك عنوانا للمبحث الأول عالجنا فيه المزاوجة لغة وإصطلاحا, عرضنا لآراء العلماء ومذاهبهم في تحديدها وأشرنا إلى أبرز خصائصها التي تميزها وخلصنا من ذلك كله إلى بيان المفهوم الدقيق لها. وأما المبحث الثاني فقد تناولنا فيه المزاوجة أثرها وتفسير حدوثها حيث بينا الغرض منها وما يمكن في استعمالها من أسرار وغايات وتكلمنا عن أسباب حدوثها في اللغة, آملين بهذا البحث المتواضع أن نكون قد أسهمنا في خدمة العربية لغة القرآن الكريم, وهو ما نصبوا إليه, ونسأل الله من بعد ذلك التوفيق.
